The Best Wide Fitting Shoes
Share
If your shoes don’t fit properly, you’re doing your feet damage! Wearing a pair of shoes that are two narrow causes cramping and rubbing. Which down the track can cause problems like ingrown toenails, Morton’s neuroma, bunions, calluses and much more.
Many things can cause wide feet; age, bunions & calluses, improper footwear, edema and more. But by far the most common cause of wide feet is good ol’ fashioned genetics. If you’ve got wide feet, don’t worry, you’re not alone! Shoe companies around the world are accommodating this now, giving you a whole array of stylish, comfortable options.
Here are our favourites!
The BEST shoes for wide feet - Vitasole Walker Mesh III
If you haven’t encountered the Vitasole Walker before, you’re in for a treat! We’ve tightened the screws on this already terrific shoe and have taken it to the next level. The biggest change being (which is why it’s the tippy-top of this list), it now comes in wide!

This is the shoe in your closet you’ll want to wear day after day after day. We know that for a fact (half the people in our office wear them every day!) This is for a range of reasons on top of the fact they fit like a glove on a wider foot:
- Meta-Rocker Sole - A Meta-Rocker Sole uses the momentum from your steps when you’re running or walking and pushes you forward. Essentially the mechanical physics works the same way as a rocking chair. As your heel strikes the ground (which we have cushioned with shock absorption) your foot will roll forward. Then it launches off an extra cushioned toe box loaded with EVA foam so you really bounce into your next step.
- Arch Support - You’ll be using your momentum to get more steps and you’ll be well supported for each of them.
- Ultra soft footbed - Not only does the footbed have Arch Support, it’s also padded with luxurious memory foam. Keeping your foot stable and supported throughout the day.
- Range of colours - There’s a Walker for every outfit. They come in a wide range of colours.

These are by far our favourites, but (as much as you might want to) you can’t wear them every day. Here are some other options that we absolutely love.
The Best Sandals for wide fitting feet - Revere
Just imagine for a second, you live in Far North Queensland, it is 42 degrees outside the podiatrists office. Inside, you’ve just been told that you have a condition which means you’ll need to wear orthotics for the rest of your life. You look at the pair of thongs (flip-flops) you came with, they’re very unsupportive and will have to go… A single tear rolls down your cheek (but not too far because it evaporated half way).
This is a reality for many people in hot climates. Those relaxing, breezy sandals that were a staple in their lives are no longer an option.
This is where Revere shines. They’ve created a range of sandals with a removable footbed, meaning someone who previously couldn’t can wear sandals! Talk about loving your shoes again!
Not only do these sandals come in wide, they also all come with strap extensions which will turn a wide into an extra wide at the drop of a hat. You can check out the range here but here are a few of our standouts:
Revere lives for fit. If you like the look of these sandals, you’ll love the rest of their range too! Check them out here.
The best all round shoes for wide feet - Vionic
Vionic are a dream for anything with problem feet. In fact, they’re a dream for anyone with feet in general! They’re known for being the first brand to implement medical grade arch support into stylish shoes. Inspiration came from a drive to supply this technology to anyone who needed it, not just those that could afford it (orthotics used to be very expensive).
This democratisation of footcare technology has now spread to those with wide feet too! In a range of styles and types to suit any activity or outfit.
We love the Vio-Motion difference, we know you will too.

The Best Shoes for Hard to Fit Feet - Anodyne
For some, your regular “wide fit” shoes simply don’t cut it. For whatever reason, you need to go nuclear to find shoes that fit. Well, we’re here to provide you the launch codes (Anodyne) for your shoe size situation.
Anodyne is a brand that focuses on the diabetic market. For a diabetic, shoes fitting properly can be the difference between life & death. Many diabetics suffer from neuropathy and poor blood circulation. The neuropathy causes loss of feeling in feet, which makes it hard to detect cuts or sores. Then the poor blood circulation means those undetected cuts or sores heal slower and can cause serious infections (which may lead to amputation).
Having developed the perfect range for diabetics also means they’re perfect for anyone with hard to fit feet.
Their entire range comes in wide, and lots of it comes in Extra Wide too!
