What does the word “comfort” make you think of? Maybe it’s being wrapped up in a big fluffy blanket like a warm toasty cinnamon bun on a cold winter's morning. Perhaps it’s rolling around in slippers and a robe with a glass of champagne. It could be a warm hug, a reclining chair or an oversized hoodie.
… but that’s not what it means to us.
To The Comfort Co, comfort is comfort in movement.
It’s not sinking into the couch at the end of a long day. It’s ensuring your feet don’t hurt too much slipping off your work shoes that you can slip them right back into your walking shoes and hit the track!
Comfort is wellness and wellness starts from the ground up. It’s not a nice feeling on your skin, it’s feeling nice IN your skin. Everything we do revolves around one simple goal “to keep you moving.”
That’s why, this April is The Comfort Co’s FIRST health and fitness month!
Exercise is for everyone
Thanks to the internet and influencer culture, health & fitness has changed. It’s morphed into a subculture that’s no longer about incremental changes to better yourself and keep yourself healthy. It can now feel like it’s all or nothing. That if you’re a “healthy” person, that’s all you are. Wake up in the morning already counting your “macros”, skip the gym at your peril.
If this works for you, by all means keep it up.
But we want to give exercise back to the people, no matter how you’re doing it.
What we're doing
It’s all well and good saying “we want to do this, we want to do that.” But as you’ll know, in exercise it’s not the talking that counts, it’s the action. So how are we going to be helping you get healthier this month?
10,000 steps a day challenge
It’s no secret that The Comfort Co absolutely LOVES walking! Our partners Vitasole are all about it. They have written multiple pieces on the importance of walking and how to get out there and do it more including fun ways to walk more, Why you should walk 10,000 steps a day, as well as a guide to the best city walks in most of the major cities around Australia.
If you don’t need motivation or tips and are ready to get going we’ve got you covered too! We wrote a blog on our favourite walking shoes here.
We’re a walking office too. Our CEO religiously walks 10,000 steps every single day without fail (not kidding, the amount of times he’s come back after his lunchtime walk DRENCHED because it was bucketing down with rain outside. But he’s got to get those steps!)
He’s just offered a challenge to our staff. Any staff member that gets 10,000 steps EVERY DAY during Health & Fitness month will get a free pair of shoes.
So at the Comfort Co we’re not just talking the talk, but walking the walk too and we’d like you to join us! It’s easy enough to do:
- Step 1: Walk your 10,000 steps
If you don’t have a smartwatch, make sure you take your phone to track those steps.
- Step 2: Get receipts
However you track your steps, get evidence of that. The easiest way is through your Health app on your phone (for iPhone, called different things on different phones). This has a count of your steps on the day.
- Step 3: Let us know about it!
We’d love to see videos & pictures of you going out and doing your thing, but we’re also fine with a screenshot of that 10,000 steps evidence. As long as you’re out there getting in the spirit of the month we’ll be happy as Larry.
Don’t wait until the end of the month either. Share your journey with us! We’re a team here and will support you every step of the way.
- Step 4: Reap the rewards
No two ways about it, after a month of walking 10,000 steps a day you’re going to feel great. That in itself is a pretty great “prize”. But we’ll have more to offer anyone that gets involved too. This could be anything from prize packs, discounts or experiences.
